so you will quickly feel part of the class.

Please be sure to:
1. Sign-in on the Y's Class Roster on your way into the pool from the locker rooms. Roster is located in a notebook on the table on the multi-use pool deck.
2. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water or sports drink before, during and after your workout. You will perspire in the water. Staying hydrated keeps you feeling better, sustains your energy level, minimizes muscle cramping and post workout muscle soreness.
3. Wear water shoes to provide you more secure footing on the pool bottom and to protect your feet.
4. Workout in a water depth that is above your waist but below your armpits when in the shallow water therapy pool.
6. If you have been ill, injured, or have any health issues be sure you have cleared it with your physicians and physical therapist that it is ok for you to workout in the water. Be sure to follow their instructions on what you should and should not do. Make your instructor aware of this.
7. When NEW, workout close to the instructor or an experienced member so you can watch them do the move. Be sure you listen carefully and follow the cueing of the instructor so you are in proper position and alignment to engage the target muscles, get results and avoid injuries.
8. Many individuals who are non-swimmers attend water fitness classes regularly. If you are not a swimmer and are not comfortable in the water, work close to the side of the pool where you can stay anchored. Be sure to make your instructor and lifeguard aware you are a non-swimmer. Remember, should you slip or go under, simply open your eyes and stand up- the water is NOT over your head.
